Highlight.
Friday, 31 December 2010

Okay, so I like to think I'm a person who looks more towards the future than anything else. I do think about the past a lot, of course, but less than I used to. So in a way, I'm looking forward to the new year, and what it's going to bring me, but I am looking back on this past year and thinking about everything. The good times and the bad times.

Firstly, I'm going to talk about the bad times that this years brought me, just so I can feel uplifted by the good things afterwards.

By far, the worst thing that happened to me this year was breaking up with Cam, mere days after our six month anniversary. All in all, to say that's the worst thing that's happened to me in the past 365 days is incredible. Last year, it was Baby Joshua's death that had left me completely heartbroken, and this year, it was a boy.

Because of this, Kitacon, looking back is a bittersweet thing for me. It was my first anime convention, I got to have some incredibly fun times with my friends and I got to meet Chris Patton. But it was the last weekend that me and Cam were together, it wasn't exactly fun, and I missed a Madina Lake Nottingham gig.

But other than that, nothing really terrible has happened to me.

My absolute highlight of this year is Amecon, without a doubt. I've already written a blog about this, so you know, I won't go into detail. If you haven't read that blog, you can find it in August.

Download was something I never really wrote about on this blog, besides my swooning of a boy called Harry. This is purely because 5 days of camping, drinking and music can be very, well, overwhelming to write about. I have a diary entry of it that I might upload one day, but not now. Download was amazing, regardless of the fact that the only thing I ever wrote online about it was about how Harry was cute. I stick by this point. He was definitely adorable.

I got to see Green Day for the first time in my life, and I've been wanting to see them live since I was 12. That's how long it took for me to see them, but I'm so glad it happened, but I'm surprised I couldn't cry at that moment, it was amazing.

Another highlight would be around the 25th of July, when I went to Harrogate for three days to see one of my best friends, Livi. Livi is my absolute soul mate who I never get to see, but I adore her so much. I didn't see her at all in 2009, but I've been lucky enough to see her twice this year. Seeing her was so much fun.

I also had the great fortune of seeing Madina Lake 5 times this year. The first was in Birmingham, then in Leeds (where I saw Livi), then Sheffield, and London twice. I've had some more fantastic times seeing my favourite bands and the RPI while tour's been in full swing. On that note, I'd also like to mention Matthew Leone, who proved himself to be a complete and total hero this year, and I've never been more proud to have Madina Lake in my life.

My uni life has vastly improved - I actually have people who I adore there now who I wasn't even aware of pre-September. I'm going to mention a few of them here.

Chris Whitehouse, oh man, where do I start with him? I feel like I should mention him regardless of the fact he's been around for more than a year now, but this year, I honestly feel like he's become my best friend. He's been there at 4am when I've been heartbroken for whatever reason, even if it is just an online presence. He is such a fantastic friend, and I can't wait to see him next! Love ya, Big C :D

Kris is the next person I absolutely have to mention. He is a complete legend. He's put up with me playing on Beautiful Katamari for hours on end, even though he blatantly hates that game. Him and Andy have managed to drag me out of bed at five in the morning to play on Halo, and although that does sound completely ridiculous and annoying, I've loved that because I've actually felt wanted around halls, and not just like this irritating being. Plus he's been amazing for meeting new people too, and I love that. I genuinely appreciate this guy being so close by.

Gaz. I honestly don't know what I'd do without this guy sometimes. Especially while I've been at home, and ill. He's such an intelligent guy, who genuinely makes me think about this deep kind of stuff, and I know that he'd do practically anything to make his friends happy. I'm incredibly happy that I met this guy, I love him to pieces and I hope that he's in my life for a long time to come.

There are a lot more people I could mention who have waltzed into my life this year, but I have to go to bed, and I'll be looking forward to the next year of hopefully having these new amazing, incredible people around, as well as my old friends who have never really left me.

I'm actually getting a little bit emotional thinking about this past year, and how soon I'll have to start writing 2011, and not 2010. Although if anything, I never write the date by hand any more and 2011 is easier to type than 2010. But at the end of the day, it's just the passing of time. It's just going to be another day tomorrow. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just a day where the buses don't run right.

I actually can't wait for the adventures that are waiting for me once normal travel services resume.

5 Obsessions from 2010
Sunday, 26 December 2010

So, here are some obsessions I have at the minute. I want to see how they change before the end of next year, so completely uninteresting for the time being I assume xD

1. Kuroshitsuji Musical

Everything from the costumes, and the casting to the music is phenomenal.

2. Tom Milsom

If anyone feels the need to buy me his album, I'd really appreciate that ;D

3. The World God Only Knows

Hilarious anime, which I will watch over and over again until season 2 appears.

4. Pokemon

Not entirely a new obsession, but it's come back to me, completely multiplied.

5. No More Heroes
I doubt this will ever NOT be one of my obsessions.

Pocket Monsters
Friday, 17 December 2010

Actually playing on Pokemon Black Version. Actually in tears.
